Boring Industries Are Where the Money Is
Everyone builds for developers, marketers and designers, because that is who founders know. Meanwhile entire industries run on software nobody has updated in fifteen years.

Why boring is underserved
Founders build for people like themselves. That produces enormous competition in developer tools and design software, and near-silence in waste management, pest control, and independent pharmacies.
The incumbents in those spaces are often genuinely old, genuinely disliked, and genuinely expensive — and their customers say so publicly, in detail, to nobody in particular.
What makes them attractive
- Low competition, because nobody finds the space exciting
- High switching pain, which cuts both ways but rewards whoever wins
- Clear buyers with real budgets and a direct cost case
- Customers who will actually talk to you, because nobody ever asks them anything
The catch
Distribution is harder. These customers are not on Product Hunt and will not find you through content marketing aimed at founders. You have to go where they are — trade associations, industry forums, actual conferences with carpet.
